We believe that by sharing our stevedoring profits to our employees, gives them a tangible stake in the outcome of every movement.
We value our employees' opinions and experience. A team of employees participated in the purchase of St. James first Gottwald crane. The team, which included both maintance and operational personnel, participated in visits to the factory and helped design the first ever harbor pontoon crane (HPK) by the Gottwald crane company. The result was a great sucess for St. James and led to the addition of 8 more Gottwald cranes at St. James including two Model 8 cranes placed into service in December 2011. With its unmatched fleet of Gottwald cranes, St James has become the premier stevedore on the lower Mississippi River and Gottwald has gained a worldwide market of this crane with sales in major ports in Asia, South America, North America, and Europe.
